An Eighth of Tequila

Cinco De Mayo, a day of celebrating. Ask most americans they don't know what they are celebrating but they are. But for sports fans they are celebrating another Floyd Mayweather fight. A once a year event like Cinco De Mayo. Floyd Mayweather takes on Miguel Cotto, not the fight everyone wants but a good match up. Mr.Mayweather is stepping up in weight class but this is not the first time he has fought at light middle weight. And after the hard fought loss to Manny Pacqiou, Mr.Cotto stepped up in weight class and has had three fights since winning all three by TKO in later rounds, including the rematch against Mr.Cotto's first loss Antonio Margarito.

Odds makers are going in favor of Mr.Mayweather. And why wouldn't you? He is undefeated, has some of the quickest hands in the game, great foot work, and can evade punches by rolling his shoulder like no other. In one word age. Mr. Mayweather hasn't taken the beating most fighters have but time catches up to you. Ask Roy Jones JR. Mix in Mr. Mayweather will be going to jail on June 1st for 87 days, makes you wonder if he is 110% focused.

From the other side of the ring there is Miguel Cotto. Mr.Cotto isn't a spring chicken but he has ripened at the right time. Mr.Cotto was brought up slow through his career with hand picked fighters. But on more then one occasion Mr.Cotto has made up with his flaws with pure heart and ability. If you have never watched the Miguel Cotto VS Ricardo Torres fight, you tube it. Cotto has also had his last four fights in this weight class winning by TKO. Mr. Cotto has been through many hills and valleys. Seeming to be a cocky fighter, to then seeming to lose focus after losing to Mr.Margarito. Getting tattoos and then before taking a few more confidence fights he fought manny Pacqiou just Two fights later after his loss too Mr.Margarito. After his career has seem to come to a low, he has worked his way back up to fight debatably the best fighter in the world.

On the night of May 5th, Cinco De Mayo. If you are watching, you will see the fight of the year. Not because of the meat of the fight, that will be good. But because of the result. The first four rounds Mr.Mayweather will set the pace landing more punches and showing off his speed and movement. But Cotto will land less punches but more powerful ones. The next three rounds you will  see a slow shift of momentum going in favor of Mr.Cotto. By the eighth round Mr.Mayweather will be up on the cards but not by much. In the eighth round Mr.Cotto will land a punch stunning Mr.Mayweather early in the round. Mr.Cotto will corner Mr.Mayweather and proceed to punch until the referee calls it. Mr.Cotto will win by TKO in the eighth round. It seems far fetched Mr.Cotto even winning. But lets take into account everything, age, if Mr.Cotto loses he becomes a stepping stone for the rest of his career, jail time for Mr.Maywether, and focus for both men. To say Mr.Mayweather will win hands down is why this will be fight of the year.
